Pre-analytical stability of sorbitol dehydrogenase in equine heparinized plasma

Sorbitol dehydrogenase (SDH) activity is one of the most sensitive and specific markers for hepatocellular injury in horses, but its reported lability makes it impractical use many clinical settings. To date, stability SDH equine samples has only been evaluated a limited number studies serum horses with activities within reference intervals. The objective study was to determine pre-analytical heparinized plasma stored at different temperatures up 72 h. Twenty client-owned admitted veterinary teaching hospital any reason were included study. Blood collected lithium-heparin tubes immediately centrifuged analyzed 1 h collection (T0).
